Kid Friendly "Shepard's Pie"

Growing up this was one of Joe's favorite meals and I know he always enjoys when we make it. However, this dish may be child (and Adult) approved, but it also probably a little easier on the waistline than the original.
I also love it because it is one of the most simple meals to make and takes a total of 10 prep minutes before you pop it in the oven and forget it until the timer rings.  Along with this meal Joe and I will normally enjoy a side salad, so don't forget to get your greens in with it!

Shopping List:

1) 1 lb. ground meat

2) Can of Corn/Frozen Corn Kernels

3) Onion

4) Can of Cream of Mushroom Soup (with Garlic if your store carries it)

5) Tater Tots

6) Worcestershire Sauce

7) Garlic

Optional:
Adding a few slices of bacon is also very tasty, cut up into small bites and throw into the pan while you are cooking the meat.

To begin:

Preheat the oven to 400.

Get out a high walled pan and set on medium high heat.  Place a small amount of olive oil in pan.  Dice up about a 1/2 cup of onion and some minced garlic.  Place in oil and let cook until softened and translucent.

Place meat into pan with onions, add about 2-3 good dashes of worcestershire sauce and salt and pepper to your liking.  Let brown.

Once meat is browned, turn off the heat and pour your can of cream of mushroom and can of drained corn or bag of corn (about 2 cups) into the pan.  Mix throroughly.

In an 9 by 12 baking dish pour mixture and then pour your bag of tater tots over the top.  Bake for whatever time is needed for your tater tots, usually about 20-25 minutes.

So easy the kids can help make it...or even your husband!
